News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday emphasised the need for a global framework to ensure that Artificial Intelligence (AI) advances human welfare rather than narrow or commercial interests. Speaking at the third session of the G20 Summit titled “A Fair and a Just Future for All – Critical Minerals; Decent Work; Artificial Intelligence,” the Prime Minister called for an international AI compact rooted in transparency, human oversight, safety-by-design and prevention of misuse.
Modi underlined that while AI has the potential to enhance human capabilities, “the final decision must always remain in human hands.” He said AI development should be “human-centric, not finance-centric,” “global rather than national,” and built on open-source foundations instead of exclusive models.
The Prime Minister asserted that this approach is already reflected in India’s technology ecosystem, which has helped accelerate progress in space applications, digital payments and AI-driven solutions. He highlighted India’s strategy of equitable access, population-scale digital skilling and responsible deployment. Under the India-AI Mission, high-performance computing capacity is being made accessible to ensure benefits of AI reach all sections of society.

PM Modi also announced that India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 under the theme “Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), inviting all G20 member nations to participate.
Emphasising the need to prepare the workforce for the future, Modi said the world must shift its focus from “jobs of today” to “capabilities of tomorrow.” Building on the progress made during the New Delhi G20 Summit on talent mobility, he proposed the formulation of a global framework for talent mobility in the coming years.
Reiterating India’s commitment to inclusive development, the Prime Minister concluded that the country stands firmly for sustainable development, trusted trade, fair finance and prosperity for all.
