PM Modi Extends Greetings on National Voters’ Day, Emphasises Democratic Responsibility

Guwahati, Jan 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, January 25 extended greetings to citizens on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, describing it as a reminder of the collective responsibility of safeguarding and strengthening India’s democratic foundations.

In his message, Modi commended the Election Commission of India for its efforts in ensuring free, fair and transparent elections. He said the day reaffirmed faith in democratic values and highlighted the decisive role of voters in shaping the nation’s future.

Calling voting a “sacred duty” and not merely a constitutional right, the Prime Minister stressed that active public participation was essential for a vibrant democracy. He underlined the importance of informed voting and high turnout in achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”.

Highlighting inclusivity, Modi said becoming a voter was a moment worth celebrating, especially for first-time voters and young citizens, as enrolment in the electoral rolls marked a key step in democratic participation.

On the occasion, he also wrote to MY-Bharat volunteers, urging them to encourage and support new voters, particularly youth, to strengthen grassroots democratic engagement.

National Voters’ Day is observed annually to promote voter awareness, encourage participation, and reinforce democratic values across the country.
