PM Modi Launches ₹6,000-Crore Projects Across Northeast

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s capital witnessed an unprecedented gathering today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive crowd at Indira Gandhi Park, drawing people from across the state in what is being described as one of the largest turnouts in Northeast India.

Expressing his deep affection for the region, the Prime Minister said the Northeast holds a “special place” in his heart. “Arunachal Pradesh, the land of the rising sun, is a symbol of India’s pride and potential,” Modi declared, receiving resounding applause.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, along with state ministers and BJP leaders, credited the Modi government for consistently announcing development packages long neglected under previous regimes. They hailed the foundation-laying of the Tato-I and Heo hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district and other initiatives worth nearly ₹5,000 crore as a transformative step for the state’s energy and infrastructure sectors.

In Tawang, the Prime Minister inaugurated a modern convention centre built under the PM-DevINE scheme at a cost of ₹145.37 crore. With a capacity to host 1,500 people, the facility is expected to boost both tourism and cultural activities. Modi also rolled out projects worth over ₹1,290 crore aimed at strengthening road connectivity, healthcare services, and fire safety infrastructure.

State leaders said these initiatives will accelerate economic growth, promote renewable energy, and open new avenues for tourism and cultural promotion, aligning with the Centre’s vision of sustainable development for the Northeast.

Following his Arunachal visit, Modi travelled to Tripura, where he offered prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Matabari and inaugurated development works at the temple complex.

Political observers noted that the Prime Minister’s back-to-back visits reflect the Centre’s determination to place the Northeast at the core of India’s development journey.
