Gangtok, April 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 27 held an interaction with Padma awardees and distinguished individuals in Gangtok, engaging in discussions on a range of national issues and sectoral experiences.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Modi described the interaction as a “wonderful” experience, noting that the exchange covered a wide spectrum of topics. The gathering brought together recipients of India’s civilian honours along with individuals recognised for their contributions across public service, arts, science and social work.
Officials said the discussion centred on insights from the field and perspectives on national development, with participants sharing their experiences and views on various areas of progress.
The Padma Awards, among the country’s highest civilian recognitions, are announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. They are conferred in three categories—Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of a higher order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service across diverse fields.
