Police Bust Alleged Prostitution Racket in Arunachal’s Roing, Four Women Rescued

Itanagar, May 4: Police in Lower Dibang Valley district carried out a late-night raid at a resort in Roing, rescuing four women from Assam and detaining several individuals in connection with an alleged prostitution network.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs and prior complaints, a police team led by the Officer-in-Charge conducted the operation at Lego Resort in the Meka area on Sunday night. During the raid, four women, reportedly brought from the Tinsukia region, were rescued and taken to Roing Police Station for further procedures.

Authorities also detained the resort manager, the owner and multiple customers for questioning, stating that they were allegedly found engaged in the activity at the time of the raid. Preliminary findings indicate that the operation involved bringing women from Assam, while most of the clientele were local.

Officials said they had received inputs over several days regarding suspected illegal activities at the location, including confidential complaints and concerns raised in public forums. They also expressed concern that such networks could expose local youth to exploitation and pose wider public health risks.

A case has been registered at Roing Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, with further investigation currently underway.
