Guwahati: Police teams from Kaliabor Police Station, Jakhalabandha Police Station and Bagori Police Patrol Post carried out a coordinated raid at the residence of Samiran Saikia in Baruachook under Kaliabor Police Station after receiving credible intelligence about long-term drug peddling activities at the location.
During the search operation, officers recovered 25 plastic containers filled with suspected heroin, weighing 37.62 grams including containers and 4.93 grams without them. They also seized 22 empty plastic containers believed to have been used for packaging, along with an OPPO mobile handset suspected to be linked to drug-related communication.
According to preliminary findings, Samiran Saikia had allegedly been selling narcotic substances from his home for an extended period. Five individuals who were present during the raid were detained for their suspected involvement in the activity.
Those detained were identified as Hirak Jyoti Borah of Deori Chilabandha, Junti Ali of Kuwaritol, Jaan Ali of Langichook, Bishal Banik, and Md Abdul Rashid of Kuthari. Police confirmed that all legal formalities were completed at the spot as required. The accused and the seized items were taken to the police station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
