The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has backed the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union’s (AAPSU) demand for changes in the document requirements for recruitment conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).
In a statement, the regional party argued that, given Arunachal Pradesh’s status as a tribal state, documents including the Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificate, Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) and proof of working knowledge of an indigenous dialect should have been mandatory requirements for government recruitment from the beginning.
The PPA said the issue may have been raised at a later stage, but maintained that AAPSU and other organisations had brought it up at an appropriate time.
The party expressed hope that the Pema Khandu-led government would accept the recommendations of the High-Power Committee constituted to examine the matter and issue the necessary notifications to the recruiting agencies for implementation.
According to the PPA, introducing such measures would strengthen the confidence of educated youths in the state and could mark a significant change in Arunachal Pradesh’s recruitment system.
Describing itself as the state’s oldest regional political party, the PPA reiterated its support for initiatives aimed at safeguarding the interests and welfare of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous population.
