PRERANA distributes food baskets to TB patients in Lakhimpur

North Lakhimpur: In a significant step towards supporting the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), PRERANA – IAS Officers’ Wives Association, Guwahati, has registered as a Ni-kshay Mitra and initiated the monthly distribution of food baskets to TB patients in Lakhimpur district. Under this initiative, the association will provide food baskets to 20 TB patients every month for six months, ensuring nutritional support that strengthens treatment adherence and recovery.

The first ceremonial distribution was held at the office premises of the Joint Director of Health Services, Lakhimpur, where Srabana Sonowal, ACS, ADC (Health), Lakhimpur, personally handed over the food baskets to patients. In her remarks, ADC Sonowal expressed gratitude to PRERANA for their humanitarian service and urged patients to continue their medication regularly and without interruption, as per program norms.

Dr. Hridayananda Boruah, the District TB Officer, Lakhimpur, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the ongoing nutritional support provided to TB patients in the district since 2022 through contributions from Ni-kshay Mitras. The event was anchored by Pankaj Savapandit from DTC, Lakhimpur, and attended by patients, health officials, and community representatives, marking a moment of solidarity and commitment to TB elimination.
