Gangtok, May 26: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Gangtok on May 26 for a three-day official visit to Sikkim and was welcomed by state leaders and senior officials upon her arrival.
The President was received at Libing Helipad by Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
A number of dignitaries were present during the reception, including Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly M N Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly, senior administrative and police officials, along with representatives of the Indian Army.
As part of her visit, President Murmu is scheduled to participate in the seventh convocation ceremony of Sikkim University. She will also confer the President of India’s Police Colour on the Sikkim Police, recognising the force for its service and contributions.
The visit is expected to include official engagements linked to education and state institutions during her stay in Sikkim.
