Guwahati: Distinguished medical professional, educator, administrator, and acclaimed intellectual Prof. Dhrubajyoti Borah, former Vice Chancellor of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, has joined The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today as Advisor to the Chancellor and Author-in-Residence.
A celebrated figure in Assam’s literary and academic landscape, Prof. Borah is a former President of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, the state’s premier literary body. His contributions span literature, culture, public life, and academics, particularly within medical and allied health sciences. Many of his acclaimed works have been translated into multiple Indian languages, and he received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 for his renowned novel Katha Ratnakar.
Welcoming him to the university, Dr. A.K. Pansari, Chancellor of RGU, expressed his delight, saying, “Prof. Borah will guide strategic initiatives that integrate knowledge, creativity, and social vision into our university’s broader mission.”

He further added that Prof. Borah’s role as Author-in-Residence will enrich the campus’s creative ecosystem. With Prof. Borah’s induction, RGU aims to strengthen its academic and cultural foundations, fostering an environment where scholarship and creativity thrive side by side.
