Rabha Hasong Body to Hold 7th Tri-Annual Conference at Satpara

Chaygaon: The Rabha Hasong Sixth Schedule Demand Committee has announced that its 7th tri-annual conference will be held on December 29 and 30 at Satpara village under the Boko–Chaygaon constituency in Assam’s Kamrup district. The event is expected to be a turning point for the Rabha community, with a key decision likely on its political stance ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

Preparations for the conference commenced on October 31 with the traditional Laikhuta Sthapon ceremony at the Satpara public playground. The event was organised jointly by the Rabha Hasong Sixth Schedule Demand Committee, the All Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU), the Rabha Mahila Parishad, and allied organisations. The ceremonial post was erected by Sonaram Rabha, Chairman of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC).

Addressing the gathering, ARSU president Motilal Rabha called for unity and cooperation from all communities to make the conference a success. He reiterated that the demand for inclusion of the RHAC under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution will be raised again before Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Committee president Dashanan Rabha recalled the long-standing struggle since the body’s formation in 2003 and warned that the organisations may adopt a “decisive course” during the 2026 elections if the demand continues to be ignored.

The event was attended by several RHAC executive members, ARSU leaders, and local representatives, marking the official beginning of preparations for the high-stakes conference.
