Rangia Youth Detained for Social Media Video Allegedly Endorsing Bangladesh Lynching

Guwahati, Dec 23: Police in Assam’s Rangia town have detained a youth in connection with a controversial social media video that allegedly expressed support for the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh, officials said on Monday.

The detained individual has been identified as Mohammad Shaif Akhtar Ali, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Rangia. According to reports, the video was uploaded and circulated through Facebook and Instagram accounts operating under the name “BOLLO CHAIWALA,” drawing attention for its sensitive and provocative content.

Following public concern over the video, police moved swiftly to trace the source and took the youth into custody for questioning. Investigators are currently examining the video footage, associated social media handles and digital activity to assess the nature of the content and its potential impact.

Police officials said further legal action would be taken after completion of the investigation and based on the evidence collected. Authorities have also appealed to the public to remain calm and responsible, urging people not to circulate or amplify content that could harm communal harmony or inflame tensions.
