Ranjeet Kumar Dass Blames Congress for Assam Movement Martyrs, Expresses NDA Confidence in Bajali

Guwahati, March 30: Assam minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass on March 29 accused the Indian National Congress of being responsible for the deaths of seven Assamese individuals who were martyred during the Assam Movement, a period marked by widespread protests against illegal immigration.

Addressing a public rally in Bajali while campaigning for NDA candidate Dharmeswar Rai ahead of the Assembly elections, Dass criticised the Congress for its role during the agitation, stating that the party’s actions had led to the loss of young lives. He argued that voters would be reluctant to support a party linked to such incidents.

Expressing confidence in the electoral outcome, Dass said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to secure a strong mandate in the constituency. He added that the alliance has intensified its outreach efforts as polling day approaches, with large gatherings being organised to mobilise support.

The campaign event was attended by BJP state spokesperson Kamal Kumar Medhi and district BJP president Mukut Kalita, who echoed similar sentiments while outlining the NDA’s agenda and appealing to voters to back their candidate in the upcoming polls.
