Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday commended the Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) for its enduring contribution to the advancement of the Mising community, describing the student organisation as a key force behind educational progress, cultural preservation and social development since its establishment in 1971.
In a post on X after attending the concluding session of the 17th General Conference of TMPK at the Mising Kristi Bhawan in Jonai, Pegu said the organisation has grown into the leading student body working for the overall development of the Mising community, with particular emphasis on empowering young people.
The minister attended the event alongside MLAs Bhubon Gam, Bhubon Pegu and Naba Kumar Doley. He acknowledged TMPK’s efforts in expanding educational opportunities, safeguarding the Mising language and cultural heritage, and championing the rights and aspirations of the community.
Pegu urged the organisation and its supporters to prepare the younger generation with the knowledge, skills and vision needed to thrive in the modern global economy while remaining committed to preserving the Mising community’s traditions, heritage and cultural identity.
He emphasised that sustainable progress should go hand in hand with the protection of cultural values to ensure a stronger and more prosperous future for the community.
