Kamalpur, Feb 4: More than fifty women’s groups in the Rangia Legislative Assembly constituency were provided with weaving materials on a single day by State BJP Secretary Ratul Sarma, fulfilling a long-standing demand raised by the women during several programmes held in the past.
According to sources, the materials were handed over personally by Sarma as part of his outreach initiatives in the constituency. With the Assembly elections drawing closer, Ratul Sarma has emerged as one of the prominent ticket aspirants of the BJP in the Rangia constituency. Following the delimitation of constituencies, a large portion of the former Hajo Assembly constituency has been included in Rangia. As a youth leader from the erstwhile Hajo constituency and currently a State BJP Secretary, Sarma is said to enjoy a strong organizational base in the area.
Sarma has already begun his election campaign across various parts of the constituency. In addition to distributing weaving materials to women’s groups, sports equipment was also provided to players from different areas during the programme. The initiative is expected to contribute towards creating a positive sporting environment and encouraging sportsmanship among young athletes. His social service-oriented and motivational efforts have reportedly drawn appreciation from people across the constituency.
It may be noted that in the recent past, Ratul Sarma, who is also a member of the Assam Youth Commission, had inaugurated several government schemes in the constituency along with State BJP President Dilip Saikia. He is known to be a close associate of the State BJP President and a trusted aide of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma has been actively participating in various programmes and institutions across the constituency, signalling the start of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Reliable sources indicate that after receiving positive signals from state and national leadership, Ratul Sharma has intensified his election campaign in Rangia. Various parts of the constituency have been decorated with banners and posters, adding further momentum to his political campaign.
