Rekha Begum Held for Posting Controversial Reel on Facebook

Hajo: A woman was arrested by Assam Police after she allegedly posted a controversial reel on social media that insulted Lord Shiva and attempted to incite communal sentiments. The accused, identified as Rekha Begum, was apprehended from her residence in Kalitakuchi under Hajo. According to police sources, she had uploaded the reel on her Facebook account on March 7.

Acting on the matter, Hajo Police Station registered a case suo motu and launched an investigation into the incident. During the probe, police examined the video and questioned the accused regarding the content shared online. Following interrogation, Rekha Begum was formally arrested and later produced before the court. She was subsequently remanded to judicial custody and sent to the Hajo jail, officials said.

Police stated that the action was taken after the video was found to contain content allegedly disrespecting Lord Shiva and having the potential to disturb communal harmony in the area. Authorities also urged citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media platforms and refrain from posting content that could hurt religious sentiments or create tension among communities.
