Repolling Underway in Assam’s Sribhumi After Alleged Irregularities at Karimganj North Booth

Guwahati, April 11: Repolling is being conducted on April 11 at a polling station in Sribhumi district under the Karimganj North constituency in Assam, following allegations of vote rigging and disturbances during the initial phase of polling held on April 9.

The fresh voting process began at 7 AM at the Babyland English High School polling station, with voters arriving to cast their ballots amid heightened security arrangements. Authorities ordered the repoll after a commotion at the booth during the earlier polling led to concerns over the fairness and integrity of the election.

The decision was taken by the Election Commission of India to ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, and transparent. Officials stated that adequate security personnel have been deployed at the site to maintain order and facilitate smooth voting.

Residents in the area have welcomed the move, expressing confidence that the repolling will help uphold democratic principles and accurately reflect the will of the electorate.
