GUWAHATI, Sept 10: Ramanujan Goswami, accused of murdering his wife Riya Talukdar in Guwahati, urged the public not to repeat his actions while reportedly maintaining that he had “no apology, no regrets” over the killing.
Goswami was accused of murdering Talukdar on August 5 at their residence near Beltola-Basistha Road. The case had triggered widespread shock over the alleged manner of the crime and the subsequent handling of the victim’s remains.
Speaking to the media, Goswami reportedly said in Assamese, “I have done a very bad thing. Looking at me, no one should do such a thing,” while appealing to people with folded hands.
However, when reporters asked whether he felt remorse or guilt over the incident, he reportedly maintained a “no apology, no regrets” stance. He concluded his remarks by saying, “Jai Shri Ram.”
The statements came amid the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Talukdar’s death. The allegations against Goswami remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
