A major rockslide triggered by continuous rainfall struck National Highway-102A near the stretch between Phaibung Khullen and Vaisiichu in Manipur’s Senapati district, posing serious risks to commuters and disrupting movement along the crucial route.
The incident occurred after incessant rain loosened the hillside, sending large rocks and debris crashing onto the highway. NH-102A serves as an important transport corridor for the region, and the latest incident has once again exposed the vulnerability of hill roads during the monsoon season.
According to reports, a vehicle passing through the affected stretch was caught in the rockslide. Despite the dangerous situation, the driver and his helper managed to escape unharmed, narrowly averting a major mishap.
Authorities are expected to inspect the affected area and initiate necessary measures to ensure the restoration of safe traffic movement. The incident has renewed concerns over the safety of critical road networks in the hill districts during periods of heavy rainfall.
