Guwahati: Assam woke up early once again — not to an ordinary morning, but to celebrate the dream of a legend. Roi Roi Binale, the final cinematic work of Zubeen Garg, continued to shatter records and hearts alike on its second day of release, marking an unprecedented moment in Assamese cinema.
Released yesterday, the film made history by becoming the first Assamese movie ever to record over 800 screenings in a single day. From 4:30 AM shows to late-night viewings, theatres across the state echoed with emotion and admiration for the artist whose legacy transcends music and cinema.
In a rare tribute, cinema halls suspended all other Hindi and Assamese screenings, dedicating every show exclusively to Roi Roi Binale — a gesture that reflected the state’s collective respect and affection for Garg.
On its second day, screenings began as early as 5 AM, with packed theatres and emotional audiences reliving Zubeen’s voice, presence, and enduring spirit. Many described the experience as a blend of pride and heartbreak — a celebration wrapped in grief.
At Gold Cinema Hall in Mangaldoi, around 20 young fans arrived together wearing T-shirts emblazoned with #JusticeForZubeenGarg. Their cheers turned to tears by the film’s end. “Zubeen Da’s acting and expressions in this film feel so mature — he performed so beautifully,” one fan said, his voice trembling. “We want justice for Zubeen; the government should ensure it soon. It’s been so many days now… we’ve lost someone of our own.”
For millions across Assam, Roi Roi Binale is far more than a film. It is an emotion, a farewell, and a revolution — the living embodiment of Zubeen Garg’s dream, carried forward by the love of the people he inspired.
