Guwahati: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today celebrated five impactful years of its flagship community service initiative — Royal Anna Seva — a noble outreach programme envisioned by Dr. A.K. Pansari, Chancellor of RGU, under the aegis of the Gyan Sagar Foundation. Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary of Assam, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated a new phase of the Royal Anna Seva journey. A street play titled “Message Beyond Words” was also performed by students to mark the event.
Launched on November 12, 2020, by then Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Royal Anna Seva began as a humble initiative to serve free, nutritious meals to those in need. Over the past five years, it has distributed more than 200,000 meals, contributing significantly to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

Dr. Kota announced that under its new phase, the initiative will provide 50,000 free meals annually, lauding RGU’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community welfare.
Reflecting on the milestone, Dr. Pansari said, “Royal Anna Seva embodies our philosophy of education with a purpose, grounded in empathy and service.”
From pandemic relief to daily meal drives across Guwahati, Royal Anna Seva has evolved into a symbol of RGU’s belief that true education extends beyond classrooms, fostering compassion and community well-being.
