RPF Cracks Down on Touts in NFR, Recovers Tickets Worth Over ₹1 Lakh

Guwahati: In a major drive against touting, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) arrested three touts in separate operations this week and recovered 44 PRS tickets worth more than ₹1 lakh. The first operation, carried out on September 2 by a joint team of CIB New Jalpaiguri and RPF Post New Jalpaiguri, led to the arrest of one tout from Sitaram Online Service in Majawali, Jalpaiguri. Two future PRS tickets worth ₹830 were seized, and a case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

In the second case on September 3, the CIB team of Lumding arrested a tout at PRS Dimapur, recovering two future PRS tickets valued at ₹3,465. A case was registered the same day. The third and biggest operation took place on September 4, when RPF Post Dalkhola arrested another tout at PRS Kanki. The team recovered seven future PRS tickets worth ₹11,889 and 33 past tickets worth ₹90,819, totalling 40 tickets valued at ₹1,02,708.

Officials stated that the operations are part of an ongoing effort to ensure that genuine passengers have fair access to railway reservations. The RPF reaffirmed its commitment to curb touting and said that similar drives and raids will continue across the NFR zone.
