RPF Records Stellar Performance in December 2025

Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) delivered an exemplary performance in December 2025, strengthening passenger safety, enforcing security measures, and providing humanitarian assistance across the zone. Through vigilant operations and swift response, RPF reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and passenger-friendly rail travel. During the month, RPF personnel apprehended 17 individuals involved in theft cases and recovered 17 stolen mobile phones valued at around Rs. 2.22 lakh, which were handed over to the concerned GRP. In a notable incident at Guwahati Railway Station, RPF staff saved the life of a lady passenger who slipped while boarding Train No. 13125 UP.

Humanitarian service remained a key focus, with 36 minors and three women rescued and handed over to Childline, NGOs, and GRP for rehabilitation. The force also assisted two pregnant women during childbirth at New Jalpaiguri and Rangiya stations. Five individuals were arrested for stone pelting on running trains, while Swachhata drives resulted in prosecution of 1,722 offenders for littering, recovering fines of about Rs. 2.29 lakh. RPF intensified action against organized crime and smuggling, arresting five touts and seizing 13 railway tickets. A major crackdown on narcotics led to 32 cases, recovering ganja, heroin, brown sugar, and cough syrup worth around Rs. 3.16 crore, and the arrest of 13 persons. Additionally, 39 cases of illicit liquor smuggling were detected, with 2,960 bottles seized worth Rs. 2.98 lakh.

Passenger facilitation was also prioritized, with 325 ticketless travellers fined Rs. 4.85 lakh, 293 prosecuted for smoking violations, and 118 left-behind luggage items worth Rs. 26.80 lakh safely returned. Assistance to the Engineering Department helped remove 115 encroachments across NFR locations. Collectively, these achievements underscore RPF’s unwavering dedication to passenger welfare, operational efficiency, and a safer, cleaner, and more secure railway environment.
