Guwahati: Renowned artist Noni Barpujari was conferred the Sashidhar Saikia Lifetime Achievement Award for the first time during the 3rd National Art Exhibition held at the Gauhati Artists’ Guild from February 1 to 3. The award recognised her outstanding contribution to the world of art and her lifelong dedication to creative expression.
The national-level exhibition showcased works by nearly 25 artists from different backgrounds, presenting a rich blend of styles, themes, and artistic perspectives. The event was inaugurated by Noni Barpujari herself in the presence of eminent artists Bijoy Bhuyan, Hemanta Kumar Das, Jyoti Saikia Kalita, Ranjit Sinha, and Prabodha Ghosh from Mumbai, among others. Several distinguished guests, including Manoj Roi, Aminul Haque, Pranjita Bujarbaruah, and Tikendrajit Saikia, were also present. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Joon Bora.
Addressing the gathering, Barpujari described the exhibition as a reflection of her lifelong journey in art. She fondly recalled her early struggles and formal training in Kolkata, stating that art has always been an inseparable part of her life and identity.

The exhibition featured works by artists such as Amitabh Choudhary, Sonali Chakraborty, Moumita Mukherjee, Dipanjali Bora, Dikshita Mahanta, Dhrubajyoti Sharma Baruah, Rupashree Hazarika, Shubham Sen, Shardha Rai, Priyanka Rai, Dipika Devi, Maria Naurin Barlaskar, Bilkish Begum, and Vicky Debnath, among others.
During the concluding session, participating artists were felicitated, and a tribute was paid to the late father of Tikendrajit Saikia. Organisers said the exhibition aimed to preserve artistic heritage while fostering interaction between senior and emerging artists. An open discussion session followed, bringing the event to a thoughtful close.
