Second charge sheet in Sohra honeymoon murder case to name five accused, says SP

Shillong, Nov 11: Police in East Khasi Hills are set to file a second charge sheet in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon in Sohra in May this year.

Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that the supplementary charge sheet will name five accused — Raghuvanshi’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, her partner Raj Kushwaha, and three hired assailants, Akash Singh Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi.

He said the document is being finalised pending forensic reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad and is expected to be submitted by the third week of November, ahead of the original December deadline.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) believes it has strong evidence against the accused but is awaiting forensic confirmation before proceeding. The first charge sheet in the case was filed on September 5 before the Sohra Sub-Division Court.

Police also plan to file a separate supplementary report against three others — Lokendra Tomar, Balbir Ahirwar, and Silome James — for allegedly tampering with evidence.

Raghuvanshi’s body was recovered on June 2 from a deep gorge at Riat Arliang near Weisawdong fall, revealing a planned murder that has gripped Meghalaya since the incident on May 23.
