Security Forces Arrest Three Suspected Insurgent Cadres in Coordinated Manipur Operations

Security forces intensified their counter-insurgency efforts in Manipur on Monday, December 15, with a series of coordinated operations across multiple districts leading to the arrest of three alleged active members of banned outfits, officials said.

In Imphal West district, a serving sergeant of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP–Taibanganba faction) was apprehended from the Heirangoithong area under Singjamei Police Station. The arrested individual was identified as Thokchom Santosh Meitei, 37, also known by the aliases Tampakngakpa and Nanao, a resident of Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession during the operation.

On the same day, security personnel carried out a separate operation in Bishnupur district, arresting an active cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK–PRO), G-5 group. The accused, identified as Louriyam Thoi Meitei, 26, alias Korou, a resident of Bishnupur Ward No. 3, was detained from the Loktak Project Gate area under Bishnupur Police Station. A mobile phone and a SIM card were seized from him at the time of arrest.

In another development, an active member of PREPAK was taken into custody from Kiyamgei Maning Leikai under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. The individual was identified as Thokchom Jotilal Singh, 29, also known as Angamba. Security forces recovered a mobile phone from him during the arrest.

Officials said all three accused have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further investigation, and legal action has been initiated in accordance with the law. Security forces reiterated that such operations would continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order across Manipur.
