Security Forces and Manipur Police have intensified counter-insurgency operations across the state, arresting several active cadres linked to various underground outfits between December 4 and 6. The coordinated crackdown, spanning Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts, marks one of the strongest recent pushes to curb extortion and militant activities in the valley areas.
In Imphal West, police arrested PREPAK (PRO)’s G5 alliance cadre Irom Boyai Singh alias Yaitanba, 24, from Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak. Singh, a resident of Keibul Lamjao in Bishnupur district, was found carrying a mobile phone at the time of his arrest. Another key capture in the district was that of UNLF (Koireng) operative Hijam Marjit Singh alias Dhamen, 51, who was apprehended from Minuthong. According to police, he was actively issuing monetary demands to truck drivers along the Imphal–Dimapur highway in the name of the G5 alliance.
Thoubal district witnessed multiple arrests, including that of KYKL operative Usham Tomba Singh alias Heibra, 24, who was intercepted in the Saikon Labuk area. Security personnel also detained RPF/PLA cadre Thokchom Angousana Singh alias Santosh, 52, from Heirok Part-II, recovering a SIM card and mobile phone. Another UNLF (Koireng) extortionist, Soibam Basanta Singh alias Samthaba, 37, was taken into custody from Laiphrakpam Mamang Leikai with a mobile phone and SIM card.
In a significant breakthrough, two active members of KCP (Apunba) — Konsam Anao Singh, 26, and Khoirom Langamba Meitei, 27 — were apprehended by Yairipok Police in Thoubal district. Officers seized an SMG carbine with two empty magazines, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler during the operation. PREPAK cadre Thokchom Sushilkumar alias Amo, 34, of Bishnupur district was also arrested at the Tera Urak Checking Point.
Kakching district reported the arrest of KCP (MFL) cadre Keisham Thamba Singh alias Pritam, 32, from his home in Sekmaijin Khoidum under Hiyanglam Police Station. A day earlier, police had nabbed KCP (Taibanganba) member Wangkhem Chinglen Singh, 29, at Kakching Lamkhai along the Indo–Burma Sugnu route, seizing a mobile handset and a diesel auto.
In another operation in Imphal West, KCP (Apunba) cadre Sinam Deven Singh, 25, was detained at Lamboikhongnangkhong with two SIM cards and a mobile phone.
Officials said the wave of arrests reflects a strategic effort to cripple extortion modules, disrupt militant financing, and neutralise active operatives across the state. Investigations into each case are ongoing as security agencies continue to monitor insurgent activity in the valley districts.
