Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have achieved a significant breakthrough in their counter-insurgency efforts. Two separate operations were conducted in different parts of the state, resulting in the arrest of a Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) cadre and a suspected extortionist.
During the first operation in Patsoi Part-4 area under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district, security forces apprehended Naorem Thembung (24), an active KCP (PWG) member from Luker Mayai Leikai, Imphal West. This arrest is part of the intensified efforts to curb militant networks operating in the region.
In a separate operation, security forces arrested Leishangthem Surchandra Singh (48) from the L Minou-Koijam area in Tengnoupal district. During the operation, authorities recovered a Maruti Gypsy, two mobile phones, and a receipt book documenting extortion money collections. These operations demonstrate the commitment of security forces to maintaining law and order in Manipur.
