Security Forces Step Up Area Domination Operations Across Manipur

Imphal, Feb 8: Security forces intensified their deployment across Manipur on February 7, carrying out area domination and search operations in several districts as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and prevent any disruption.

Officials said the operations focused on fringe and vulnerable areas in both hill and valley districts. As part of the state-wide exercise, 114 nakas and checkpoints were set up at strategic locations, with security personnel maintaining strict vigilance throughout the day. No detentions were reported during the operations, which officials said were conducted smoothly.

Special emphasis was placed on securing National Highway-37, a crucial lifeline for the transportation of essential commodities. Authorities ensured the safe passage of 303 vehicles carrying essential goods along the highway, with security convoys provided in sensitive stretches to prevent any obstruction and ensure uninterrupted movement.

Additional security arrangements were also put in place at identified vulnerable locations, with reinforcements deployed wherever required. Officials said the measures were aimed at ensuring the free and safe movement of people and vehicles, while safeguarding public life and property.

The continued area domination exercises and installation of checkpoints form part of a broader security strategy to restore and maintain normalcy across the state. Authorities reiterated that the focus remains on preventing disturbances while ensuring that essential services and supply chains continue without interruption.
