Residents of Assam’s Chenga Development Block accessed specialist medical care, diagnostic facilities and government services under a Health and Wellness Camp held at Bahari High School, with 716 people receiving consultation and treatment.
Organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the camp brought multiple services together at a single location. The District Commissioner, Barpeta, and the MLA of Barpeta LAC visited the venue, met beneficiaries and took stock of the facilities being provided.
Patients were examined by specialist doctors from Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, ENT and Ophthalmology. AYUSH Medical Officers were also present to provide consultation, treatment and health-related guidance.
Health assessments were supported by a Mobile Medical Unit, which carried out check-ups and laboratory diagnostic tests. A yoga demonstration formed part of the programme, with a focus on physical well-being, healthy living and preventive healthcare.
The camp placed particular emphasis on screening for non-communicable diseases. Community Health Officers, MPWs, ANMs and members of the ACCF team screened 250 people for hypertension and another 250 for diabetes.
Cancer detection services were also provided. Oral cancer screening was conducted for 125 people, while 85 women underwent breast cancer screening and another 85 were screened for cervical cancer. Beneficiaries needing additional care were given counselling, health advice and referral support.
The programme extended beyond medical services, with facilities for creating and distributing PM-JAY cards to enable access to cashless healthcare. Residents could also avail themselves of Birth and Death Registration, Assurance Certificates and UDID services.
By bringing doctors, frontline health workers and officials from different departments to one venue, the camp sought to make healthcare, screening, counselling and essential government services more accessible to residents under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
