Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Congratulates Prakash Bhattarai on Sahitya Akademi Award 2025

Gangtok, March 17: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on March 16 congratulated Prakash Bhattarai for being selected for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for 2025.

The national academy earlier announced its annual awards across 24 recognised Indian languages. Bhattarai was selected in the Nepali language category for his work “Nepali Paramparik Sanskriti Ra Sabhyata Ko Dukuti.”

In a social media post, Tamang expressed pride over the achievement, stating that Bhattarai would be honoured by the Government of India for his essay, which offers a detailed insight into traditional Nepali culture and civilisation.

The Chief Minister extended his congratulations and best wishes, while also praising Bhattarai’s contribution to the preservation and promotion of Nepali language and literature. He described the recognition as a significant milestone that has brought pride to the Nepali-speaking community.

Bhattarai, a resident of Timburbong in Soreng district of Sikkim, currently serves as vice chairman of the Institute for Transforming Sikkim.
