Gangtok, May 1: Sikkim-born vocalist Girish Pradhan has been selected by German heavy metal band Accept for their 50th anniversary album Teutonic Titans 1976–2026, scheduled for release on September 4, marking a significant moment for India’s presence in the global metal scene.
Pradhan, who fronts Girish and the Chronicles, will perform the band’s 1981 track Breaker on the commemorative double album. His inclusion makes him the only Indian artist featured on a project that brings together more than 50 internationally recognised figures in heavy metal.
The album features contributions from leading names including Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, along with artists associated with bands such as Pantera, Scorpions and Ghost.
Pradhan’s entry into the project is linked to his professional association with American guitarist Joel Hoekstra, who has collaborated with him on earlier work and is also part of the anniversary release. Their connection, developed through projects under Frontiers Records, played a role in securing his participation.
Formed in 1976, Accept are widely regarded as pioneers of speed metal, with a lasting influence on the evolution of the genre. The anniversary album revisits 19 tracks from their catalogue, re-recorded with guest artists representing multiple generations of rock and metal.
Pradhan’s inclusion reflects his band’s expanding footprint in Europe, supported by releases such as Rock the Highway and Hail to the Heroes, as well as performances alongside major acts including Guns N’ Roses.
Industry observers view his appearance on the album as indicative of the growing international recognition of Indian rock artists, positioning them within a global lineage that has shaped heavy metal over decades.
