Singapore Mourns Zubeen Garg, Confirms Sharing of Autopsy Report with India

Guwahati: The ongoing investigation into the untimely death of beloved Assamese singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg saw a diplomatic development this week, as Acting High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Alice Cheng, met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.

During her official visit to the state on October 16, Acting High Commissioner Cheng extended her deepest condolences to Chief Minister Sarma and the people of Assam regarding the widely felt loss of Mr. Garg. The meeting served as a diplomatic exchange amid the public’s search for clarity surrounding the singer’s passing.

In a related statement, the High Commission of Singapore in India confirmed a key step in the process, noting that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) provided the Indian High Commission in Singapore with the autopsy report and preliminary findings on October 1, 2025. This exchange followed a formal request made by Indian authorities.

However, the High Commission stressed that, with investigations into the case still active, it is currently unable to offer any further comments. The High Commission appealed to the public for patience and understanding, underlining the necessity of affording the SPF the requisite time and space to conduct a complete and impartial investigation.
