Sonitpur ABSU Holds Rally in Dhekiajuli for BTR Accord Implementation

Tezpur: With the rest of the state Sonitpur ABSU too took out a huge rally at Dhekiajuli town on the demand of implementation of the BTR accord 2020. The demands includes amendment of Article 280 and the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India as per the 125th Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019, during the forthcoming Winter Session of Parliament, 2025, granting of Scheduled Tribe (Hill) status to the Boro-Kacharis residing in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasa districts, granting full-fledged status to BKWAC – including village notification, delimitation, and conduct of elections, Provincialisation of Bodo medium schools and colleges within the BTR and outside the BTR, inclusion of additional villages from Sonitpur and Biswanath districts, as well as from the southern part of the BTR, entitlement of land rights to tribals under the provisions of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006, and release of 1500 crore Special Development Package for infrastructure development in the region.

            Alongwith over three thousand people from different parts of the District the rally was participated by former adviser of central committee ABSU, Khwngkhra Swargiary, Former president of Sonitpur District ABSU, Jeet Swargiary, speaker, central ABSU, present speaker of central committee, ABSU Abit Narzary, and one among the secretaries of the central committee of the organization, Birdaw Boro and the president of Sonitpur district committee ABSU, Enosh Mochahary.

            Addressing the gathering leaders of the organization urged the government to implement the demands  mentioned in the BTR accord without any delay.The rally supported by different Boro organizations started from Dhekiajuli High School field passed throughout the Dhekiajuli town and culminated at the office of the CDC, Dhekiajuli. At the end of the programme, a memorandum was submitted to the prime minister of India through the CDC, Dhekiajuli, Dyotibha Borah.
