Sonitpur Gears Up for Sewa Saptah with Health and Welfare Initiatives

Tezpur: The District Commissioner of Sonitpur, Ananda Kumar Das, on Tuesday addressed the media at the DC’s Conference Hall, announcing an extensive line-up of events for Sewa Saptah Week, beginning September 17. He was joined by ADC Twahir Alam, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Jagadish Goswami, and senior Health Department officials.

Das highlighted that the week will feature health-oriented and welfare programmes aimed at strengthening community well-being. A blood donation camp will mark the launch day at Mahashraman Bhawan, Tezpur, and Shahid Smarak Udyan, Dhekiajuli, in collaboration with local hospitals and social organisations. The “Sustha Nari Sustha Parivar Abhiyan” will also be rolled out across government health centres, focusing on women’s health services under National Poshan Maah and the PM Matru Vandana Yojana.

A major highlight will be the Mega Health Camps across all five LACs of the district, running from September 18 to October 31, offering check-ups for children, diagnostic services for 50 conditions, Aadhaar enrolment, AYUSH OPDs, cancer screening, and laboratory facilities. Additionally, on September 22, the Nikshay Mitra Samaroh will felicitate TB supporters and distribute nutritional kits across LACs.

Other events include a tree plantation drive in 575 schools on September 19, felicitation of young writers on September 21, land allotment under Mission Basundhara 3.0 on September 23, and the launch of Orunodoi 3.0 on September 25.

Das urged citizens to actively participate, stating these initiatives would significantly boost health, welfare, and community development in Sonitpur.
