Sonowal Projects NDA Victory, Panda Urges Voters to Turn Out

Guwahati, April 9: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on April 9 expressed confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure a strong mandate in the ongoing Assembly elections in Assam, projecting a tally of around 100 seats.

Speaking during the polling phase, Sonowal said the alliance’s optimism stems from the public response to its campaign across the state. He added that the NDA’s confidence is also based on what he described as the government’s performance over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting social welfare initiatives and development efforts.

Meanwhile, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda visited the revered Kamakhya Temple, where he offered prayers before casting his vote. He urged citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, calling voting a key democratic responsibility.

Referring to the light drizzle during polling hours, Panda termed it auspicious and encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers, describing the election as a “festival of democracy.”

Polling is underway across multiple constituencies with security arrangements in place, while election authorities continue to monitor voter turnout closely.
