A special court is scheduled to hear the bail applications of Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora on June 12 in connection with a disproportionate assets case registered by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell.
The two, who formerly served as bodyguards to late Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg, approached the court seeking bail after being named in a case involving allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The matter is slated to come up before a Special Judge’s Court.
Earlier, Baishya and Bora had moved the Special Fast-Track Court seeking bail. However, their applications were rejected, prompting them to file fresh petitions before the special court.
Investigations into the allegations are currently in progress following the registration of the case by the CM Vigilance.
The court is expected to decide on the bail pleas after hearing arguments in the matter on June 12.
