Dhubri: The mortal remains of SSB jawan Manik Roy, who passed away in Arunachal Pradesh, were brought to his native village Lalkura in Gauripur, where he was laid to rest today with full military honours. His body arrived at his residence in the morning, and emotional scenes unfolded as family members, neighbours, and security personnel gathered to pay their last respects.
On Tuesday morning, Roy suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while on duty in Arunachal Pradesh, leading to his untimely demise. The news of his passing has deeply saddened the community in Gauripur and across Assam, where he was known for his dedication and service.

A ceremonial tribute was offered by SSB personnel before his cremation, which was conducted with complete military protocol. His final rites took place at the Lalkura Mahamayadham premises, where hundreds gathered to bid farewell to the fallen jawan.
Manik Roy is survived by his wife, a young son, and a daughter. His death has cast a pall of grief over the region, as people mourn the loss of a brave soldier who served the nation with honour and commitment.
