Two teachers sustained injuries following a startling incident involving a student-built rocket that detonated during a science exhibition held in Hailakandi, Assam, on Monday morning. The explosion occurred at the Extension Training Centre, situated in Boalipar Bazar, where the event was being hosted by the Aryabhatt Science Centre to foster practical scientific engagement among local students.
Both injured individuals, who are faculty members at Spring Valley Central School, were swiftly transported to SK Roy Civil Hospital to receive medical attention. The exhibition had drawn participants from numerous schools across the district, highlighting a collective effort to promote hands-on scientific learning. Importantly, despite the unexpected blast, authorities confirmed that no students were harmed during the incident.
