Guwahati: Two young dancers from the Amrapali Institute of Arts, Guwahati, delivered remarkable performances at the All Assam competition of Rang–Sür–Taal: Assam Sanskritik Porbo, an initiative of Rabi Ragini – Tagore’s Ideal Music Academy. The prize distribution ceremony was held at ITA Machkhowa on Saturday.
Under the mentorship of celebrated Kathak duo Guru Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati and Smt. Pranaame Bhagawati, students Saipriya Nandi Purkayastha and Charvi B. Kashyap secured top honours in their respective categories. Charvi won 1st prize in Group A, while Saipriya secured 2nd prize in Group B, earning widespread appreciation from the audience for their refined artistry and disciplined training.
Organizers noted that the young dancers’ achievements reflected their dedication to classical dance and the rigorous guidance of their Gurus, who have represented Assam on several international platforms. Saipriya Nandi Purkayastha is also a recipient of the CCRT Scholarship 2025 under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Rang–Sür–Taal is a state-level art, dance and vocal competition held across Assam to commemorate the birth centenary of Ganashilpi Lt. Dilip Sarma, one of the state’s most revered cultural figures.
