Dhubri, May 9: In an ongoing drive against illegal narcotics trafficking, Assam Police apprehended an alleged drug peddler during a targeted operation carried out in Dhubri district on Thursday.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Gauripur Police Station conducted a raid at Madhushaulmari area under Gauripur police jurisdiction and arrested a local resident identified as Balon Rai.
During the operation, police recovered seven containers containing suspected narcotic substances weighing around 6.76 grams in total from the possession of the accused.
Following the seizure, the accused was taken into custody and brought to the police station for further interrogation.
Police sources said investigators are probing possible links between the accused and a wider drug distribution network operating in the locality. Further investigation into the case is underway.
