Rangapara: In a heartwarming act of compassion, Pawesh Karmakar, a youth leader from the tea tribe community, has constructed a house for a differently-abled man in Adabari Khelmati village under the Rangapara constituency of Sonitpur district.
The beneficiary, Binod Thapa of Pakbil village, had been living in dire circumstances for years after a severe accident left one of his legs badly injured. With no family support, Thapa’s struggle for survival had grown increasingly difficult.

Moved by his plight, Karmakar—who runs a mobile phone business—took it upon himself to build Thapa a house entirely at his own expense. In addition, he gifted him a pair of pigs to provide a source of livelihood.
Expressing deep gratitude, Thapa said the gesture had resolved his long-standing housing crisis and offered him renewed hope.
Karmakar, who firmly believes that “when people help one another, society progresses,” has also been supporting the education of several underprivileged students for years. Entering politics in 2014, he is a graduate of Tezpur College and currently serves as president of the Sonitpur District Committee of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh.
“By building a home for a differently-abled person and striving for the upliftment of the underprivileged, Pawesh Karmakar has set a remarkable humanitarian example,” said Anirban Bhattacharya, a state-level BJP social media cell member.
