Teacher Suspended, Nine Students Transferred at Morigaon JNV

Morigaon: In a stern action against campus ragging, the district administration of Morigaon has suspended a teacher and transferred nine students to different Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across Assam following an assault on a junior student earlier this month.

According to Additional District Commissioner (Education) Anusuya Sarma, the disciplinary measures were taken in coordination with JNV authorities after an inquiry into the November 5 incident. The probe committee included officials from the district administration, police, and the school.

House Master Bishwajit Chowdhury was suspended for dereliction of duty, while Vice Principal Dhrubajyoti Sharma was transferred to JNV Mokokchung in Nagaland. The nine senior students found involved in the ragging case have been relocated to other JNVs in the state. Parents of the accused students have been directed to submit written undertakings ensuring their children will not repeat such behavior.

“All teachers have been warned to perform their duties diligently as House Masters,” Sarma said, reaffirming the administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward ragging in educational institutions.
