Baksa: A tense situation prevailed outside the Baksa District Jail on October 15 as hundreds of fans of singer Zubeen Garg staged a massive protest when the accused Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma were brought to the facility after being remanded to judicial custody.
According to reports, both accused were transferred to Baksa Jail under tight security following their appearance before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Guwahati earlier in the day. However, as their convoy arrived, an agitated crowd gathered at the jail premises, shouting slogans demanding justice for Zubeen Garg.
The situation turned chaotic when the crowd, in a burst of anger, pelted stones and sandals at the vehicle carrying the accused. Security personnel quickly intervened to disperse the protestors and restore order around the jail premises.
