Tension escalated in Bordumsa during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing process at the ADC office, with a protest reportedly turning violent.
Members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), Bordumsa Students’ Union and other organisations staged a protest over the alleged inclusion of members of the Chakma community in the SIR process.
The situation reportedly escalated into clashes and open firing. However, it remained unclear who opened fire, and the exact circumstances leading to the incident were yet to be established.
Amid the unrest, an AAPSU leader was reportedly injured in a machete attack, further heightening tensions in the area.
Security forces were deployed in Bordumsa to prevent further escalation and maintain law and order. Authorities were expected to investigate the firing and reported attack and establish the sequence of events.
The developments came amid heightened concerns and protests in parts of Arunachal Pradesh over the verification of electoral rolls under the ongoing SIR exercise.
