Tensions Rise in Bordumsa Over Arrival of Bengali-Speaking Muslim Group

Itanagar: Tensions escalated in Bordumsa on Tuesday after a group of around 50 Bengali-speaking Muslims arrived in a night super bus, triggering unease among local residents.

The bus (registration AS 01 FC 6427) was intercepted at the entry point and subsequently turned back. The group was temporarily held near the Burhidihing Reserve Forest at Brahmajan while authorities initiated verification.

Local organisations alleged that the individuals may be displaced persons from recent eviction drives in Assam. Some reports also suggest they were being transported to Arunachal Pradesh to work in brick kilns. However, none of them could identify their specific destination or employer when questioned.

Preliminary inputs indicate that the group originated from Assam’s Morigaon and Nagaon districts. Their sudden arrival created concern among residents of Bordumsa and Pengeri, who demanded immediate verification of the group’s documents to ensure no illegal settlement attempts were being made.

According to sources, the movement was allegedly facilitated by Babar from Morigaon and Nagar from Arunachal Pradesh, though their exact role is under scrutiny.

Police and administrative officials have yet to release a formal statement, but security has been heightened in the area to prevent any law and order situation.
