Three Injured in Kangpokpi Firing Incident Shifted to RIMS Imphal Amid Heightened Tension

Three persons injured in the reported firing incident near Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul villages in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district were brought to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, for treatment on Monday, June 15.

The injured have been identified as Genlenmang Vaiphei (18), Lunliandaw Vaiphei (20) and Paogou Lal (18). According to sources, all three belong to the Kuki community.

Sources said the injured individuals were transported to Imphal under tight security arrangements as tension continued to prevail in the area.

The incident occurred earlier in the day when fresh tension reportedly erupted near Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul villages in Kangpokpi district. Initial reports indicated that a firing incident took place in the locality, leaving three persons injured.

Security forces and civil authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further escalation. However, the circumstances that led to the firing and the identities of those involved have not yet been officially confirmed.

No formal statement has so far been issued by the Manipur Police or district authorities regarding the incident.

The situation remains tense, and further details are awaited as investigations continue.
