Biswanath Chariali: The Assam Assembly elections will be held on April 9 in three assembly constituencies of Biswanath district, namely No 70 Biswanath, No 71 Behali (SC) and No 72 Gohpur assembly constituency respectively. The District Administration is committed to ensuring free, fair, transparent, and safe elections as directed by the Election Commission of India. A total of 654 polling stations have been set up across the district. Comprehensive arrangements have been made for the secure transportation and handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to facilitate the safe and efficient conduct of the voting process.

The district is divided into 68 sectors and 17 zones, each under the jurisdiction of Sector Officers and Zonal Officers responsible for monitoring and coordination. Sector officers will carry two sets of reserved EVMs, while zonal officers will carry one set of reserved EVMs. These reserved units will be safely transported in designated vehicles of Zonal and Sector Officers along with security personnel and will be immediately deployed to the polling stations in case of any malfunction of any EVM.
All voters in the district are encouraged to actively participate in the electoral process and exercise their franchise in a responsible and peaceful manner. The district administration also urged everyone to cooperate with the polling personnel and security forces to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. Lakhinandan Saharia, the District Commissioner and District Election Officer also urged the people to immediately report any concerns or irregularities observed during the polling process in the district to the designated authorities for immediate action.
