Itanagar, May 2: Security forces arrested three alleged militants linked to the NSCN-K (Niki Sumi) faction during a joint operation carried out by the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in Tirap district on May 1, officials said.
The coordinated operation was launched in the Wancho Colony area of Khonsa based on specific intelligence inputs. The three suspects were apprehended following a targeted search and interception exercise.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Wingan Agan (33), Jhonny Riba (21) and Rajapeyu Khechan Khetey (30). According to officials, all three were allegedly associated with the insurgent outfit.
During the operation, security personnel recovered two 7.65 mm pistols with magazines, nine rounds of live ammunition, three mobile phones, three SIM cards, documents linked to the GPRN, and suspected brown sugar valued at approximately Rs 500.
The accused, along with the seized items, have been handed over to Arunachal Pradesh Police in Khonsa for further legal proceedings and investigation.
Officials said counter-insurgency operations have been intensified across Tirap and adjoining districts in recent months as part of broader efforts to curb militant activity and reinforce security in the region.
