Bilasipara: A tragic road accident in Bilasipara has left the entire town in shock. The fatal incident occurred on National Highway No. 17 at Suryakhata, where a passenger bus and a motorcycle collided head-on, resulting in the instant death of a college professor.
The deceased has been identified as Zahirul Islam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at Bilasipara College. According to reports, he was a resident of Upartari village. The passenger bus involved in the accident bore registration number AS 01 NC 1275, while the motorcycle was AS 05 B 7551.

Eyewitnesses stated that the high-speed bus, traveling from Dhubri toward Guwahati, rammed into the oncoming motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot. The horrific accident sparked widespread grief and outrage across Bilasipara. Local residents have demanded a thorough investigation against the driver responsible for the tragedy. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, recovered the body for post-mortem examination, and initiated an investigation. This fatal crash has once again raised serious concerns about road safety and reckless driving on the highways of Bilasipara.
